Salbutamol 1 mg, guaifenesin 50 mg
Indications/Uses
Resp disorders eg, bronchospasm & excessive mucus secretion due to bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult >12 yr 10-20 mL 2-3 times daily. Childn 6-12 yr 10 mL 2-3 times daily, 2-6 yr 5-10 mL 2-3 times daily.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Management should be done gradually. Patients w/ thyrotoxicosis. Parenteral or nebulizer use of β2 agonist may cause hypokalemia. Concomitant use w/ other β-adrenoceptor agonist may cause metabolic alteration eg, increased blood glucose level. Do not increase the dose/frequency.
Adverse Reactions
Fine tremor in the skeletal muscle (usually in hand), palpitation, muscle spasm, tachycardia, headache, tension. Peripheral vasodilator, nervousness, hyperactive, epistaxis, sleep difficulties.
Drug Interactions
Effect is inhibited by β2-antagonist. Concomitant use w/ MAO may cause severe HTN. Avoid concomitant use w/ non-selective β-blocker eg, propanolol.
